For many SK lovers, Ilsan is a city they want to visit. A suburban city located in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It's known for its modern urban development, residential areas, and various attractions and as the hometown of BTS member RM (Kim Namjoon).
If you're a BTS fan and interested in visiting Ilsan, you can create your own tour by visiting places that have significance to RM's life. While respecting privacy and local regulations, we will not focus on anything that maybe personal to RM, but on the city itself and all that can be found.
Lake Park is one of the largest man-made parks in Asia, featuring beautiful wildflowers and plants; and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. With beautiful landscapes, walking paths, cycling trails, a lake where you can rent paddle boats; you can understand why it has been used as the setting for a number of Korean shows. The park is particularly scenic during the cherry blossom season in spring.
One Mount Water Park is a large leisure complex in Ilsan that includes a water park, a snow park, shopping malls, and restaurants. The Goyang Aqua Planet aquarium is located within the One Mount complex and features a variety of marine life, including fish, sharks, stingrays, and more. The water park features thrilling slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, while the aquarium offers an educational experience for visitors of all ages.
KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Centre) is one of the largest exhibition and convention centres in South Korea. It hosts various trade shows, exhibitions, concerts, and events throughout the year. If theatres and concerts are to your liking, Goyang Aram Nuri Arts Centre is a cultural complex which houses a concert hall, theatres, art galleries, and exhibition spaces. It hosts a variety of cultural performances, concerts, and exhibitions, showcasing both local and international talent. Check the event schedules to see if there's anything of interest during your visit. We must include the Masil Art Gallery in this list of places of art and museums to see. This art gallery in Ilsan displays contemporary Korean art, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media artworks. It's a wonderful place to explore the local art scene and discover talented Korean artists. From these places alone you can see where RM found his love of art, books, and history.
Outside, check out Ilsan Cultural Park. The park features beautiful gardens, sculptures, and cultural attractions such as the Ilsan Lake Art Museum. It's a peaceful place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the artwork and natural surroundings. And for the shopaholic and/or lover of fashion, perhaps make a visit to Paju Premium Outlets. While not technically in Ilsan but nearby, Paju Premium Outlets is a popular shopping destination for locals and tourists. It offers a wide selection of luxury and designer brands at discounted prices. Maybe you can find some RM inspired fashion choices here.
